This album consists of fifteen original songs written by Gary Eller about people, places and events of West Virginia, and especially the upper Ohio Valley where he was born and raised. To see liner notes and hear saudio samples, click on Appalachian Sons Notes and Audio. This CD was dedicated to Gary's mother Virginia, father Thad, many aunts, uncles and cousins, friends and the places and events in the songs. The project title is taken from a song of the same name in the project, subjects of many other songs and Gary himself.
Nancy Nice of Proctor, W.Va. provided encouragement throughout the project, co-wrote two songs and took many of the photographs that grace the project artwork. Gary's daughter Rachel layed out the artwork and daughter Audrey sang harmony on two songs. Gary's nephew Casey Sutton of Kingswood, W.Va. co-wrote one song and cousin Beverly "Tex" Johnson of Conroe, Texas (born and raised in Cameron, W.Va.) co-wrote another song. This has been a true collaboration with family and friends. Outstanding Idaho musican friends contributed greatly to this project, as indicated below. Particular thanks go to Marv Quinton.
Marv Quinton - vocals, acoustic bass, mandolin (Bona Fide)
Dominique Tardif - harmony vocals, mandolin
Audrey Devine-Eller - harmony vocals
Aaron Fewkes - fiddle
Sean Rogers - piano
Dick Kneidel - bass vocals
